The Headwaters Eco Lodge

Pete is currently engaged as the executive chef at The Headwaters Eco Lodge, the largest energy-positive retreat of its kind in New Zealand.

Set in amongst the majestic landscape of Glenorchy in the South Island (45 minutes outside of Queenstown), the eco-retreat offers an experience where guests can enjoy a journey of food, nature, history and community.

Since joining the team in 2021, Pete's involvement has been instrumental in shaping the food vision for this extraordinary project. He has brought his lifelong passion for sourcing his produce in the most natural ways possible with the team establishing onsite organic gardens, glass houses and orchards.

While enjoying local delicacies of the region and seasonal delights from the garden, guests can admire the local art and detailed craftsmanship throughout the communal dining room

The endeavour, founded and funded by Paul and Debbie Brainyard, has the goal of proactively protecting both the environment and the community. The lodge is built to the highest sustainability standards, producing more energy through solar than required for operations and using 50% less energy and water than similar facilities.

To the benefit of the local community, company profits are placed in the Glenorchy Trust and administered entirely by local trustees.

Whether it's intimate dining, large groups or corporate retreats, Pete and his team at The Headwaters Lodge can create a tailored experience that showcases the freshest local produce and natural wonders of Glenorchy.
